Friday morning and the Inktank crew is either home already or headed home, like me. This has been a great conference. Salt Lake City is beautiful and never more so with snow-covered mountains in the background.
As I said previously, the Supercomputing conference is huge. The booths from the large companies like Intel are really impressive. Even more impressive is the SCnet setup that is put together by volunteers for each SC show. This provides networking not only for the computing challenges at the conference, but also provides Wi-Fi for the entire convention center area, one of the best Wi-Fi coverages I’ve seen at any conference I’ve attended.
We spent a lot of time talking to attendees and vendors at the conference, learning about how storage is used in HPC environments. What we learned is that Ceph has the features and the capabilities to be an excellent storage option for many HPC needs.
We encouraged all the people we talked with to visit ceph.com and download Ceph. It’s free and open-source, with a passionate and active developer community.
